Bowles Taitt was born August 27, 1951, on the beautiful island of Barbados to his late parents, Reverends Owen and Grace Taitt. He is the sixth of seven children. From early childhood, he exhibited a desire to follow in his father’s footsteps and enter the ministry. He loved acting and performed in a number of church and school productions.
In 1969, he graduated High School and migrated to the United States. He desired to pursue a career in acting and to that end, started the National Drama Guild, a ministry component of the National Young Peoples Christian Association of Greater New York. In September 1971, he submitted to God’s plan for his life and enrolled in Nyack College. Upon graduation, he was awarded the Nyack College Certificate of Merit for outstanding service to the college community and received the commendation of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
In January 1986 at the age of 24, Bowles was ordained and appointed pastor of the Ebenezer Gospel Tabernacle of the Christian Mission of the USA in Brooklyn, New York where he served for ten years. Between 1987 and 1989 he served as chaplain at the Salvation Army Wayside Home and School for Girls in Valley Stream, New York.
In August 1989 he joined the Brooklyn Christian Union Church of the Churches of Christ in Christian Union (now Miller Evangelical Christian Union Church), the denomination in which he currently holds ordination credentials. He served as its senior pastor until January 2019. In June 2019 he founded Sacred Call Ministries (SCM) a religious, non-denominational, non-profit organization, committed to enhancing the ministry of the local church by enriching its ministerial and leadership teams. He serves as president of SCM. In October 2020, he planted Elim Evangelical Christian Fellowship as a daughter church of Miller Evangelical where he serves as the senior pastor.
Bowles has served as a Camp Meeting Evangelist for the Northeast District of his denomination, and has preached revivals and conducted leadership seminars for churches both within and outside the United States. He is the father of one daughter, Sandra, but can claim the title of being a spiritual father to many. His life Scripture is 1Timothy 1:12 “I thank Christ Jesus my Lord who has enabled me that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry.”
